THE INTEGRATED BIOMASS CENTRE AND COMMUNITY EDIBLE GREENS
The Integrated Biomass Centre and Community Edible Greens projects are our green projects through environmentally and socially conscious means. These projects are also in line with our strategic aim to transform our city into a lively, highly spirited and truly green by year 2030.
THE INTEGRATED BIOMASS CENTRE
Essentially the project approach is centered on 2 distinct platforms. One is our technology and knowhow platform, and the other is our collaboration and engagement platform via ‘managing waste’.
COMMUNITY EDIBLE GREENS
To collaborate and engage our communities in our green mission, they do not just see trees, shade and the H2O as the only incentives. Our communities need additional tangibles like food, organic vegetables, fruits and herbs. Targeted segments are:
1) Landed Property Residents
2) Flat and Apartment Dwellers
3) Schools
MPSJ’s Integrated biomass center collects and process the organic materials:
- Agricultural waste
- Food waste
- Used cooking oil
- Fresh market waste
- Brown waste
We utilize the targeted wastes and to produce the clean energies by way of sustainable, alternative and renewable. We choose the methodology using vermicomposting and anaerobic digestion biogas.
COMMUNITY EDIBLE GREENS
The community benefitted:
• Special recognition for residents with well maintains greens within their premises.
• Free starter kits, advice and other incentives for those planting edible greens.
• Side incomes.
• Green surrounding and fresh greens for their own consumption.
Both Integrated Biomass Centre and Community Edible Greens create opportunities for commercialization and at the same time renewal and source of energy.
Since the establishment of the project, MPSJ has received numbers of recognitions and overwhelm visits locally and internationally.
A longer term benefit in green and health provided by these projects create more opportunity towards better way of life and green surroundings. Better quality collaboration will pave the way for more community engagement and the desired effect of having a more civic minded society.
The innovation lies in the green collaboration which creates community engagement needed for the success of our green mission. It’s a win-win situation for MPSJ and the communities.
We hope to set an example of green collaboration for others to follow. We are not only looking for establishing a Green City, but also a green community. More of such projects will benefit the country and also to the world.
