Hong Kong’s Communications Authority (CA) has created a new Localised Wireless Broadband Service (LWBS) licence in the 26GHz and 28GHz bands for 5G services. Up to 400MHz will be allocated between 24.25GHz and 28.35GHz to allow for localised 5G coverage. Permits will be valid for five years, with five-year extension options, and will carry an annual fixed fee of HKD100,000 (USD12,800) plus other variable fees depending on the number of base stations and devices in use.
