4G intelligent transportation service application is a service which integrates transportation with local travel and market. The object is not only to improve Kaohsiung city bus intelligent service quality and it’s taking rate, but also to promote recommendable local package tours and market discount to passengers and visitors.

Application building introduction:

(1) 4G intelligent LCDs, free Wi-Fi and IP CAMs are increased to 30 high usage bus shelters.

(2) 4G intelligent kiosks, free 4G Wi-Fi and IP CAMs are increased to 6 bus transportations.

(3) 4G intelligent bus telematics, free 4G Wi-Fi and IP CAMs are increased to 4 high usage city bus routes. (Route 69, Route 100, Route 168, Route 205)

4G intelligent LCDs and kiosks are used to provide passengers and visitors dynamic public transportation information like arriving time, weather, local package tours, market discounts, commercials and other useful information. Through the intelligent equipment services, waiting for the bus is not boring anymore. Free 4G Wi-Fi is not only a friendly and convenient service for users, but also a great way to broadcast local commercials and public information. 4G IP CAMs are used to ensure the driving safety by tracking bus driving behavior and the traffic situations.

In sum, the major object is to improve Kaohsiung city transportation route map, local travel and market by collecting and analyzing users’ behavior data. During this way, we expect a well developing on both transportation and economy.

Kaohsiung city bus is already equipped with a basic dynamic management system for years. There are 7 private city bus companies in Kaohsiung, which all are experienced and able to maintain the system in order to offer accurate bus arriving time. Nevertheless, since the city bus schedule is not as intensive as the one of the MRT, the rate of bus taking is still low here. However, thanks to the travel promotion benefited, the number of visitors to Kaohsiung is increasing year by year. Therefore, transportation service needs to be enhanced. 4G intelligent transportation service and IOT (internet of things) application becomes more important and more necessary.

During this project, Kaohsiung city bus service quality has been raised up obviously. Through IOT application and users’ big data analysis, we expect that it will be effective on integrating Kaohsiung public transportation, local travel and market, making the public transportation smarter and more convenient than ever.
